Heart Rhythm Society Recognition Awards

Each year, the Heart Rhythm Society recognizes outstanding contributions to the field and the Society through its Recognition Awards. Please help identify qualified candidates by participating in nominations for the 2027 Recognition Awards.

The deadline for award nominations is November 2, 2026.

Award Categories

  • Distinguished Allied Professional Award: Recognizes an Allied who has demonstrated strategic leadership in the HRS allied community throughout his/her career, and in doing so has furthered the field of electrophysiology and patient care

  • Distinguished Scientist Award: Recognizes an individual who has made major contributions to the advancement of scientific knowledge in the field of cardiac pacing and/or cardiac electrophysiology

  • Distinguished Service Award: Recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the Heart Rhythm Society

  • Distinguished Teacher Award: Recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding skills as a teacher in the field of cardiac pacing and/or electrophysiology

  • Pioneer in Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology Award: Recognizes an individual whose innovative or original work in cardiac pacing and/or cardiac electrophysiology has made significant contributions to the field

  • James H. Youngblood Excellence in Leadership Award: Recognizes an early to mid-career member who has demonstrated exemplary leadership through leading an initiative that has had community-wide impact. This award aims to identify emerging leaders of the organization.

Nomination Considerations 

  • Any Heart Rhythm Society member in good standing may submit a nomination.
  • Only Heart Rhythm Society members are eligible to be nominated for Recognition Awards, except for the Distinguished Service Award and the Pioneer in Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology Award, which are also eligible to non-members.
  • The recipient of the James H. Youngblood Excellence in Leadership Award cannot currently be employed by Industry.
  • The Distinguished Service Award recognizes outstanding service to the Society exclusively.
  • Members of the Governance Committee, Awards Subcommittee, and HRS Officers are not eligible to be nominated.
  • Award nominations remain active for three years. If you submitted after 2023, your nomination is on file.Award candidates cannot be considered for a Recognition Award for 3 years after they receive a Recognition Award in a different category.

Nomination Guidelines - NEW

  • A nomination submission must include two nominators, with two separate nomination letters (one from each nominator).
  • Nomination letters (2 pages maximum) must come from individuals only (not on behalf of a group or with multiple signatures).
  • Each candidate may be nominated only once in a single Recognition Award category.
    • Additional nominations or letters of support for the same candidate in the same award category will not be considered.
    • If multiple nomination submissions are received for the same candidate in the same award category, only the first submission, including the first two nominators and their nomination letters, will be reviewed.
  • Nominators cannot nominate more than two candidates for any Recognition Award or more than one candidate per category.

Learn More

  • Deadline: November 2, 2026. 
  • Review Process: Nominations will be reviewed by the Awards Subcommittee, with approval by the Governance Committee and the Board of Trustees.
  • Recognition: Award recipients will be recognized in San Francisco at Heart Rhythm 2027.
