Heart Rhythm Society Recognition Awards

Each year, the Heart Rhythm Society recognizes outstanding contributions to the field and the Society through its Recognition Awards. Please help identify the most qualified candidates by participating in nominations for the 2026 Recognition Awards.

The deadline for award nominations is November 3, 2025.

Award Categories

  • Distinguished Allied Professional Award: Recognizes an Allied who has demonstrated strategic leadership in the HRS allied community throughout his/her career, and in doing so has furthered the field of electrophysiology and patient care

  • Distinguished Scientist Award: Recognizes an individual who has made major contributions to the advancement of scientific knowledge in the field of cardiac pacing and/or cardiac electrophysiology

  • Distinguished Service Award: Recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the Heart Rhythm Society

  • Distinguished Teacher Award: Recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding skills as a teacher in the field of cardiac pacing and/or electrophysiology

  • Pioneer in Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology Award: Recognizes an individual whose innovative or original work in cardiac pacing and/or cardiac electrophysiology has made significant contributions to the field

  • James H. Youngblood Excellence in Leadership Award: Recognizes an early to mid-career member who has demonstrated exemplary leadership through leading an initiative that has had community-wide impact. This award aims to identify emerging leaders of the organization.


Nomination Considerations 

  • Any Heart Rhythm Society member in good standing may submit a nomination.
  • Only Heart Rhythm Society members are eligible to be nominated for Recognition Awards, except for the Distinguished Service Award and the Pioneer in Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology Award, which are also eligible to non-members.
  • The recipient of the James H. Youngblood Excellence in Leadership Award cannot currently be employed by Industry.
  • The Distinguished Service Award recognizes outstanding service to the Society exclusively.
  • Members of the Governance Committee, Awards Subcommittee, and HRS Officers are not eligible to be nominated.
  • Award nominations remain active for three years. If you submitted after 2022, your nomination is already on file.

NEW Nomination Guidelines

  • Two nominations are required for each candidate; additional nominations or supporting letters will not be considered.
  • Nominators cannot nominate more than two candidates for any Recognition Award or more than one candidate per category.
  • Nomination letters (2 pages maximum) must come from individuals only (not on behalf of a group or with multiple signatures).
  • Additional nomination requirements vary per award; begin the nomination process to learn more.

Learn More

  • Deadline: November 3, 2025. 
  • Review Process: Nominations will be reviewed by the Awards Subcommittee, with final approval by the Board of Trustees.
  • Recognition: Award recipients will be recognized in Chicago at Heart Rhythm 2026.
